Who We Are : John Synnott, Guide, Instructor

Fly fishing moved out of the hobby stage years ago and over the past couple of year has entered the obsession stage. It's not an exageration to say that I am fishing most days of the week during the season and at least one or two days a week in the off season. Part of the addiction is location, with so many streams to fish within a few minutes of home it's hard not to get out. From all of this time on the water I feel pretty confident that there are few anglers that know the waters of the Otter Creek watershed better than I do. My next quest is to get my Winooski watershed up to that level.

Going in to my 5th season of ownership, and 8th season of guiding with Stream and Brook I am excited for the new challenges ahead. Some of my personal goals for this season are to continue to work on my nymphing skills, fish at least a dozen new pieces of water in VT, and get my oldest son into a stream and indepently fly fishing. Figure out how to consistantly take Pike on the fly (mainly it's happened by accident).

For the business, I like the pace at which we have been growing over the past years, and I would like to see that continue. We have been grooming some great guides over the past couple of seasons as well as improving the veteran's skills and I want to see that process continue.

OK, so it was a private pond.
